چکیده
Description of the subject. In Messaad region, in central Algeria, pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is one main fruit crops agricultural systems after apricot. Objectives. To explore cultivar diversity, a study morphological variability fruits and seeds was carried out on seven cultivars; Khadraye KH1, Hamraye HM1, Senin Alouj SL1 from orchards, AM2 (Amourah) Amourah KH3, Mezabi MZ3, SL3 Zaccar orchards. Method. Analysis variance (ANOVA), principal Component (PCA) followed by an Ascending Hierarchical Classification (AHC) based quantitative parameters are used. Results. The results show similarities between classes according to which four were grouped. first class C1 consists two cultivars (KH1 Messaad), while second C2 cultivar, HM1of Messaad. third C3 very characteristic Romane (AM2) fourth last C4 includes all station Zaccar. evaluation qualitative characteristics color taste panel amateur tasters reveals significant dissimilarities similarities. Conclusions. presented this work clearly justify its interest preservation, exploitation valorization genetic material, for improving cultivated varieties that appreciable economic performances.

The role of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) in colon cancer.
Colon cancer is one of the major causes of cancer-related death in the Western world. Although cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents are available to treat the disease, these agents become ineffective as the disease advances to an invasive state. An alternative but viable approach to reduce the incidence of this deadly disease is then, to increase the dietary intake of relatively non-toxic fruits a...

15 صفحه اولA new insight to the phytochemical and morphological diversity in commercial pomegranate (Punica granatum) cultivars
The pomegranate fruit is one of the most important horticultural products due to the presence of polyphenolic, antioxidant and anti-fungal compounds. In the present study, morphological and phytochemical compounds diversity was investigated in eight Iranian commercial pomegranate cultivars. Fourteen morphological characters and 10 chemical compounds were measured. Based on PCA analysis the most...
متن کاملINVITED REVIEW Biotechnological advances in pomegranate (Punica granatum L.)
Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is known for its nutritional, medicinal, and ornamental importance. It is conventionally propagated by hardwood and softwood cuttings, but about 1 yr is needed before the rooted cuttings can be transplanted to the field. Propagation by seed is undesirable as populations are heterozygous and seed propagation leads to wide variations in tree and fruit characterist...
متن کاملGenetic, Biochemical, Nutritional and Antimicrobial Characteristics of Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) Grown in Istria.
This study characterises the genetic variability of local pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) germplasm from the Slovenian and Croatian areas of Istria. The bioactive components and antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of ethanol and water extracts of different parts of pomegranate fruit were also determined, along with their preliminary nutritional characterisation. Twenty-six different genot...
